About the event
Police/Prison and Justice System Reform
There will be discussions on the current state of Bail Bond reform. Also, discussions will be held on the history of policing in the U.S.—how and why it got started during the Jim Crow era. Finally, the inequitable mass incarceration of Black men in the U. S., along with possible solutions, will be explored.
Restoring the U.S. Global Standard
Engage in dialogue regarding the erosion of democracy in the United States, due in part to increasingly partisan divisiveness, coupled with the decline in the excellence of this country’s once-unsurpassed educational system. Discuss the reasons behind the United States’ failing health care system, especially as it relates to Black and Brown people. According to the CDC, Black women in the U.S. are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. This disparity has led to the United States’ maternal mortality rate ranking the worst in any industrialized country.
Countering Domestic Terrorism
Participate in meaningful discussions that will explore the U. S. history of domestic terrorism, which originated with the KKK and its obviously state sanctioned nefarious activities. Panelists will do a deep dive into the infiltration by the KKK and other domestic terrorists of law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Military. Engage in discussions about the effectiveness of civil litigation and criminal prosecution of individuals and groups who engage in domestic terrorist activities, such as the January 6th insurrection on our nation’s Capitol.
